“Espaço Mimami”
As mães começam qualquer texto dizendo que o são. A Mónica é mãe e sempre quis ser mãe a tempo inteiro. O patrão fez-lhe o favor e despediu-a durante a gravidez. Depois de um ano a ser (só) mãe, percebeu o que quer fazer da vida: abrir um espaço onde as mães possam ser felizes a tempo inteiro.
Mothers begin any text by saying what they are. Monica is a mother and she has always wanted to be a full-time mother. Her boss did her a favour and fired her during the pregnancy. After one year being (only) a mother, she realised what she wants to do with her life: open a place where mothers can be full-time happy.
Parecia difícil falar de puerpério para uma audiência composta por jovens sem filhos, de cerveja na mão. Mas não foi. Falou-se da maternidade, da opção de estar a tempo inteiro, das amizades criadas entre mães através do Facebook,… e no fim, o “Mimami” ganhou mais uns centímetros. Cresceu em amigos, em contactos, em ideias. E uma mãe envergonhada saiu de sorriso em riste e de coração cheio.
At first it felt like a difficult task to talk about puerperium for an audience of young people with no children and holding beers on their hands. But it wasn’t. We talked about motherhood, the option of being a full-time mother, about the friendships between mothers on Facebook. And at the end, “Mimami” gained a couple more centimeters. It gained friends, network and ideas. And, at the end, a shy mother left “Conversas” with a big smile on her face and a full heart.

Depois de ter vivido em Espanha e na Austrália, foi mais do que esperada a vontade de querer voltar a comprar um bilhete só de ida. Planeou, despediu-se, fez as malas e optou por Berlim com a certeza de estar a fazer a escolha certa mas ainda sem saber porquê até descobrir a ABURY, um projeto de inovação social que atua na preservação de artesanato em risco de extinção introduzindo a componente inovadora do Design.
After living in Spain and and Australia, it was expected that the wish of buying again one way ticket would re-appear. She planned, said goodbye, packed and opted for Berlin, being certain that this was the right choice although she didn’t know exactly why. The fact that it was indeed the right choice was confirmed when Vera found ABURY, a project of social innovation that aims to preserve handicraft facing risk of extinction, by combining it with innovative Design.
Para a Vera, o desejo de sair do seu país para poder evoluir profissionalmente revelou ser algo mais complexo do que uma vontade. Recordando este percurso e pegando na definição de “momento” como medição rítmica da sua aventura, a Vera apresentou na sua conversa os 18 momentos marcantes que separaram a pessoa que foi da pessoa que regressou.
For Vera, the desire of leaving her country so that she could develop professionally was a bit more complex than just a will. Reminding this journey and taking into account the definition of “moment” as a rhythmic meditation of her adventure, Vera talked about 18 important moments that differentiated the person who went from the person who came back.

Carmo Gregório é licenciada em Antropologia e doutorada em Ciências da Educação. Foi professora e diretora de uma escola primária. Atualmente divide-se entre um organismo do Ministério da Educação e a “Fabula Urbis” que concebeu e gere, com João Pimentel.
Carmo Gregório graduated in Anthropology and has a Ph.D. on Sciences of Education. She was teacher and headteacher of a primary school. Nowadays she divides her time between an organism of the Ministry of Education and “Fabula Urbis”, a project she started and runs with João Pimentel.
Lisboa é a única cidade do mundo que tem um ramo das ciências sociais associado ao seu nome – a Olisipografia. Por isso, Carmo Gregório criou, em 2007, com João Pimentel, uma livraria, galeria e editora que lhe é dedicada. A “Fabula Urbis” é um lugar de encontros à volta de livros, música, exposições, conversas, destinado aos amantes de livros e da cidade, aos investigadores e ao turismo cultural.
Lisbon is the one city in the world that has a social sciences area associated with its name – Olisipografia. For this reason, Carmo Gregório opened with João Pimentel in 2007 a bookshop, gallery and publisher dedicated to Lisbon. “Fabula Urbis” is a meeting place around books, music and exhibitions. It is a place for books and Lisbon lovers, researchers and for cultural tourism.
