Deixou Berlim para vir a Lisboa acabar o mestrado em Informática e acabou por ir parar ao Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica onde tem passado os últimos dois anos a trabalhar entre humanos e robôs. É um iniciante na investigação robótica passando o dia a tentar mudar máquinas que nunca fazem bem o que se quer, mas o que o atrai mais é perceber onde e como vão estar na nossa vida os companheiros que fez no laboratório onde trabalha… os robôs.
He left Berlin to come to Lisbon and finish his Master’s thesis in Computer Sciences and ended up at the Institute for Systems and Robotics, where he has spent the last two years working between humans and robots. He is a debutante investigator in robotics, spending all day trying to change machines that never do quite what is expected, but what attracts him the most is to understand where and how in our lives will the companions he made in his live… the robots… be.
O Duarte Aragão veio-nos falar de robots e acabámos todos a imaginar o que será o futuro. Como será termos os robots como nossos parceiros no futuro, iremos ser invadidos ou seremos todos amigos? O Duarte defendeu que eles vão cá estar para nos ajudar, mas que a sua forma ainda está por descobrir e é aí que podemos todos ter um papel. Uma conversa onde se descobriu desde fábricas automatizadas até rabos robóticos.
Duarte Aragão came to talk to us about robots and we ended up imagining how the future will be. How will it be to have robots as our partners in the future, will we be invaded or will we all be friends? Duarte defends they’ll be around to help us, but the way in which this will happen is still to be discovered, and that where we all can play a role. A Conversa where we found out about everything, from automatized factories to robotic butts.

Joana Reais nasceu em setembro, mês quente e de recomeços. O tema da sua Conversa faz todo o sentido, não tivesse ela sobrevivido a um curso de Design de Comunicação pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, quando o que de facto queria era cantar.
Joana Reais was born in September, a hot month, of new beginnings.The theme of her talk makes perfect sense, or had she not survived a degree in Communication Design by the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Lisbon, when, in fact, all she wanted was to sing.

O Ricardo nasceu em Beja, cresceu em Setúbal, estudou Fotografia em Tomar e estagiou na Magnum Photos em Paris.Vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Gosta de fazer retratos na sua câmara de grande formato, e sempre que o faz oferece uma Polaroid ao retratado. Ouvi dizer que também vai fazer isso nas Conversas … 😉
Ricardo was born in Beja, grew up in Setúbal, studied Photography in Tomar and did his internship at Magnum Photos in Paris.He lives and works in Lisbon. He likes to take portraits with his large format camera and every time he does so, he gives the person he photographs a Polaroid photo. I heard he’ll also do it in the Conversas… 😉
Nesta Conversa, falou-se sobre o que levou o fotógrafo Ricardo Pereira a interessar-se por fotografia. O processo de trabalho foi também explicado e ficou a saber-se que gosta de fazer retratos em Polaroid na sua câmara de grande formato e de oferecê-los aos seus retratados. No final da Conversa, montou a sua câmara de grande formato, explicou como funciona e fez uma Polaroid daqueles que estavam na sala.
In this Conversa, we talked about what lead photographer Ricardo Pereira’s interest toward photography. His work process was also explained and we got to know he enjoys making Polaroid portraits with his large format camera and offer them to the persons he photographs. At the end of the Conversa, he set his large format camera, explained how it works and made a Polaroid picture of all those in the room.
